From Chania to Lassithi, Heraklion and Rethymno, it has to show off the infinite beauty of nature and its people. Birthplace of Zeus, the father of the gods, cradle of the advanced Minoan civilization, home of brave warriors during the years of Turkish rule and German occupation. Among their songs, the “rizitika” of Western Crete stand out, which appeared first in the villages located in the “roots”, i.e. at the foothills of the White Mountains, but also the more well-known to all of us “mantinades”, songs in rhyming iambic fifteen-syllable lyrics. Accompanied by their lyre, the Cretans express their joy, sorrow, pain, love and recount their heroic deeds against the conquerors, either with their rizitika or their mantinades.

The scents of herbs, the “medicine” of nature, are everywhere in Crete, as are those of lemon blossoms, almond trees, grapes, colourful flowers, pine trees, and the
and fir trees. The products used are always local and seasonal, such as wild greens, meat, while snails and raki, which accompanies all dishes, are prominent in Cretan cuisine.

A trip to Crete is a touch to the “soul” of the island, to its culture, to the smile and the authentic hospitality of its people and to everything that makes up a unique, rich experience with unforgettable memories for you.
