“I believe in the will and the power of women!” – INTERVIEW WITH MRS CHRISTINA TETRADIS, VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE HELLENIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE HOTEL INDUSTRY, PRESIDENT OF THE HOTEL INDUSTRY OF ZAKYNTHOS<\/p>\n
Born into a hotel family from Zakynthos, Ms Christina Tetradi learned from a young age the meaning of hospitality, which she continues to serve to this day. Successful businesswoman, active member of important tourism institutions, mother and wife. “The modern woman can truly succeed on all levels,” she says, because “When you love something, you perform and you succeed!”<\/p>\n
What is the island of your “heart” and what experiences would you suggest to Greek travellers to live on the island?<\/p>\n
Zakynthos is an island that offers generous colors, aromas, images, flavors, tastes, smells and above all the warmth of hospitality, combining culture, history, tradition, beautiful nature with relaxation and tranquility.
\nI would suggest them to explore the clean and blue seas, the hospitable beaches, the famous “Shipwreck”, the Caves, the Mizithres, to experience the wonderful nature of Zakynthos, to enjoy the musical tradition of the serenade and the arechia, in the traditional taverns of the island, taste the local gastronomic specialties and the wonderful wines, as well as the Zakynthian products such as cheese, oil, raisins, mantolato, pasteli.
\nAs for the Zakynthos of my “heart”, as the poet Andreas Kalvos says in a characteristic verse: “beautiful and lonely Zakynthos conquers me”. I hope it will take over you too.<\/p>\n
When did you start working in the hospitality industry and what was it that pushed you into tourism?<\/p>\n
The hotel business is not just a “profession”, but a “Way of Life”. You don’t become a “GENERATE” hotelier.
\nOur first hotel was built when I was very young so, ever since I became aware of myself, I remember moving around in that space as if it was my home. Even at that young age I followed every detail with interest, because of course the hotel business was, in my eyes, a very “special game”. The telephone exchange of that time with the plugs was one of my nicest toys.
\nThe hotel profession is creative, very social and communicative and gives me the opportunity to showcase my personality and my personal style through it. Also, while it is very demanding, it is never “monotonous”, because there is a constant change of performances and situations.
\nWhen I am in my hotels, I feel like a “hostess” who hosts and welcomes my guests every day.
\nYou have been awarded as “Female Leader of the Ionian Islands”.
\nHow easy or difficult is it for a woman to succeed
\nin a traditionally male-dominated space?<\/p>\n
I think these are outdated views. The difficulties are the same for everyone, women and men alike. An entrepreneur is not judged by his or her gender, but by his or her decisive and entrepreneurial abilities.
\nI believe in the will and the power of women!
\nThe modern woman can truly succeed at all levels, she is dynamic and creative, she knows how to fight with faith, vision, perspective and optimism, she takes her place in the world, she fights stereotypes and prejudices, she expands her participation in public life and decision-making centres, she does not just follow or adapt, but she can achieve anything. He leads!<\/p>\n
As a wife and mother, how do you manage to maintain a balance between your personal and professional life?<\/p>\n
Harmonising and balancing work and personal life is certainly a challenge. I often think there’s no way I’m going to make it all. And yet, I, like most women, in some skilful and not magical way, manage to do it.
\nI reviewed my priorities and adjusted my schedule.
\nI believe that every woman has her own recipe.
\nThe ingredients of mine are first of all love, understanding, definitely organization and flexibility and of course optimism that everything will work out! When you love something, you perform and you succeed.<\/p>\n
What advice would you give to women who want to work in the tourism industry?<\/p>\n
Do it, of course! Particularly in the tourism industry today, there are many women entrepreneurs who run some of the best businesses in the sector and are accepted by the business world because they have combination and communication skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
