Egg freezing is a safe method that has finally come to help women preserve their fertility for the future.<\/h4>\n

The modern woman is increasingly delayed in thinking about having a child either because of career or circumstances.<\/h4>\n

The years go by and very often when you decide to have children it is quite late.<\/h4>\n

The eggs age very quickly. After 40 they decrease in number and very often have abnormal DNA.<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sometimes there are other reasons such as:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • a hereditary history of premature menopause,<\/li>\n
  • women who have few eggs in the ovaries, especially after surgery on them<\/li>\n
  • Cases of women who are going to undergo chemotherapy that is going to damage the ovaries<\/li>\n
  • women without a partner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What is the right age to freeze my eggs?<\/u><\/h3>\n

    The younger the age the better. We could say that an ideal age is up to 35 years, as the younger the age of the woman, the better the quality of her eggs. But also up to 40-42 years is acceptable. After 40 [eggs] decrease in number and very often have abnormal DNA.<\/p>\n

    What tests need to be done?<\/u><\/h3>\n

    Your gynaecologist will do a vaginal ultrasound to see the follicle reserves in the ovaries and a hormonal test to find out your hormonal profile.<\/p>\n

    How is the egg freezing process done?<\/u><\/h3>\n

    The procedure is the same as the first part of IVF. The woman undergoes hormonal therapy which stimulates the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Prior to ovulation, ovulation is performed, i.e. all the eggs are collected by vaginal ultrasound under light sedation (intoxication). Once the eggs are collected, they are immediately frozen. Freezing lasts up to 10-12 years.<\/p>\n

    When a woman wishes to procreate using her frozen eggs, the eggs are thawed, fertilised in vitro (i.e. fused with her partner’s sperm) and the endometrium is prepared so that the embryo can be transferred into the uterus and a child can be born.<\/p>\n
