Is tourism the engine of economic development of Amorgos?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Tourism is the driving force of the economic life of Amorgos. The qualitative development of the island goes through the development of tourism. Development, however, with respect to the environment, the colour and the tradition of Amorgos. Almost all economic activities in Amorgos are related to tourism, even agriculture and livestock farming. The main objective is to strengthen all tourism-related services and of course to extend the tourist season.<\/p>\n

The management of the pandemic was exemplary and Amorgos is <\/strong>covid<\/strong>–<\/strong>free<\/strong> Island. What impact does this have on tourism?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The fact that Amorgos is an ideal and safe holiday destination is not just an advertising slogan. It is the reality. It is the result of a serious and responsible attitude and cooperation between the Municipality and citizens. We have respectfully complied with all the decisions of the state and we demanded in every way the sanitary protection of Amorgos. 90% of the population has been vaccinated and we have acquired a Molecular Analyst at the Health Centre to perform the required COVID 19 tests.<\/p>\n

How was Amorgos prepared for the summer season<\/strong>?<\/h3>\n

We have to admit that this summer season will also be full of uncertainty. As a municipality we decided to plan as if we were expecting a normal year. We participated in many international tourism exhibitions, virtual, due to the pandemic, we contacted travel bloggers and influencers and promoted Amorgos as an ideal holiday destination in all domestic and international media. We are optimistic because we have loyal “lovers” who are the best ambassadors of Amorgos.<\/p>\n

What is your goal as a Municipal Authority for tourism?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The main objective is to extend the tourist season and to improve the ferry connection with Piraeus, Crete and islands with airports where international flights are operated. In addition, we are working on strengthening existing and creating new thematic tourism institutions.<\/p>\n

What is Amorgos?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Amorgos is the summer you have to experience. Not just sun and sea, but a journey of experience. An immersion in culture, tradition, gastronomy combined with the endless blue and the Aegean light.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
