Invitation to participate in the <\/strong>pitching<\/strong> lab<\/strong> of the International Documentary Festival <\/strong> <\/h3>\n

“Beyond the borders”<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Castellorizo International Documentary Festival “Beyond Borders” was established in 2016 by the Hellenic Foundation for Historical Studies (IDISME), with the support of Ecrans des Mondes (Paris). It is held every year in August (this year from 22 to 29 August 2021) in Kastellorizo. The main objective of the festival is to showcase the most remarkable documentaries on history and society.<\/p>\n

Thus, the festival “Beyond Borders” is pleased to renew its appointment for another year and continues to hold its pitching lab entitled “From idea to film”. The main objective of the lab is to offer young\/young filmmakers the opportunity to present their basic idea for a documentary to a panel of experienced producers, TV and film institutions in Europe active in the documentary field. Each participant will receive professional-level advice and information on how to turn their idea into a project that can be presented to the wider documentary community. Each participation will last 15 minutes, specifically 3-5 minutes for the presentation of the project and 10-12 minutes for questions and discussion.<\/p>\n

The pitching lab will be held via Zoom video conference, so that it will be accessible to more and more creators. At the same time, it is not obligatory for participants to send trailers or other supporting material. The originality and dynamism of the idea is the main criterion for the selection of the project.<\/p>\n

In order to participate, it is necessary to fill in a simple participation form (see relevant file) and send it to beyondborders.pitching@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Required information: possible\/desired title, possible\/desired length, genre and style\/style of the documentary, description of the idea in one sentence, a brief description of the main features of the film (location, main characters, possible events, actions, archives, etc.) and a short biography of the applicant.<\/p>\n

Participation is free of charge. The deadline for participation is 17 July 2021. The jury will select a total of 20 nominated works (plus an additional 5 alternates). Candidates will be informed of their selection by 15 August 2021 at the latest. For the smooth running of the pitching lab it is necessary for the participants to be available on the Zoom platform during the week of the festival (22-29 August).<\/p>\n
