Thebes is one of the 20 oldest Greek cities in the world.<\/p>\n

It is one of the cities that have been continuously inhabited from the first day of their foundation until today.<\/p>\n

Ancient Thebes was one of the most powerful ancient Greek cities having dominated Greece for a long period during the fourth century BC.<\/p>\n

Thebes is also associated with one of the most important mythological cycles of Ancient Greece.<\/p>\n

Thebes is the birthplace of the mythical Hercules, the god of wine Dionysus, the lyric poet of the Olympic Games Pindar. It is the city where the great General Epaminondas thrived having won the battle of Lefctra, the city of Antigone who resisted the orders of the Authority, the city of the Theban cycle and the Ancient tragedy.<\/p>\n

Theodoros Vryzakis, the famous painter, was born in Thebes.<\/p>\n

Thebes is currently the third city in population in Central Greece. It is a commercial centre and has one of the most important and modern Archaeological Museums in Greece.<\/p>\n

It is an ideal destination for all those who wish to travel in time.<\/p>\n
