With the aim of strengthening relations with the British market and promoting the country as a gastronomic and tourist destination, the H.O.T. Department of the United Kingdom. Kingdom & Ireland,<\/strong> in cooperation with the Greek Embassy<\/strong> in London and the hotel chain Aldemar Resorts,<\/strong> organised two business dinners at the Embassy Residence in London on 26 & 27 February 2024.<\/p>\n

The promotion of the destination of Olympia, in view of the Olympic Year and the Olympic Games that will take place in the summer of 2024 dominated the event, where they were presented:<\/p>\n

– the tourist destinations in the Peloponnese,<\/p>\n

– the wine routes,<\/p>\n

– easy accessibility from Kalamata airport and<\/p>\n

– the combination of holidays with Athens and Zakynthos.<\/p>\n

Three chefs of Aldemar Resorts<\/strong> curated and prepared a Greek menu based on Greek fish, courtesy of the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (ELOPY)<\/strong> and in collaboration with the Office of Economics & Commercial Affairs of the Greek Embassy in London. PDO products such as saffron from Kozani, olives from Halkidiki and pistachio from Aegina,<\/strong> courtesy of ODYSEA<\/strong> and Greek varieties such as Malagouzia, offered by Domaine C. Lazaridis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A total of 40 people attended the meetings and significant contacts were recorded with executives of the British travel market interested in including Olympia in their offers,<\/strong> as well as representatives of the British media such as The Times, National Geographic Traveller, Aspire, Travel Weekly, Travel Gossip<\/strong> and targeted influencers who focus on gastronomy and wine tourism and were interested in visiting the destination and gaining personal experience.<\/p>\n
