Thessaly is located in the heart of central Greece and has significant viticulture both on the mountain slopes (Rapsani, Krani\u00e1, Mesenik\u00f3la) and in the plains (Tyrnavos, Vounaina, Meteora). Among the white varieties, we find Assyrtiko, Roditis, Moschato Ambourgou, Batiki, Savvatiano Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc, while among the reds, we have Limniona, Limnio, Xinomavro, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the Italian Sagiovese and Nebbiolo. In Larissa, Rapsani provides us with PDO wines with Xinomavro, semi-sweet, and semi-dry, and Stavroto (reserve and grand reserve).<\/p>\n

In Karditsa, Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Mesenik\u00f3la offers varieties such as black Mesenik\u00f3la, Carignan and Syrah and in Magnesia, Protected Designation of Origin PDO Anchialos produces whites (dry, semi-dry, and semi-sweet) from Roditis and Savvatiano. Tyrnavos constitutes the largest viticultural zone (30,000 tons of grapes) with Moschato Ambourgou, Roditis, Malagousia, Chardonnay, and Syrah. With over 40 wineries, many of which are open to visitors, they deserve our attention and are pleasantly combined with short getaways.<\/p>\n
