  The teachings of the ancient Greek philosophers, though thousands of years old, continue to resonate with the ethical challenges facing modern business. Their wisdom offers timeless insights into the nature of responsibility, governance, and ethical behavior – areas that overlap significantly with today’s emphasis on ethical leadership, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability as encapsulated in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) frameworks. The recent ESG and Ethics conference, organized by the Greek chapter of the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN), brought together renowned academics and practitioners from across Europe, the US, Africa, India and Brazil to discuss the issues of ethics, sustainability and corporate responsibility. VSN HUB as a supporter of the conference organized a Debate on the theme “Aristotle or Plato: Who would you choose as a leader for your company?”. It stood out as a dynamic and exciting event, in which both scholars and business leaders actively participated. VSN HUB explored the philosophies of two of the most influential ancient Greek thinkers and their relationship to modern business leadership and ethics, with a particular focus on the requirements of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The Debate took place between Philosophy Professors Dr. Katsimitsis and Dr. David Bevan and was moderated by Vicky Evangeliou, founder of VSN HUB  <\/p>\n

  Active engagement from academia and business: Participants from both sectors brought new perspectives to the discussion, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue in solving contemporary business ethics challenges.  <\/p>\n

Learning from the Important Greeks<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The debate between Aristotle and Plato as models of leadership illuminated the continuing relevance of ancient philosophical insights to modern business practices.
