The system for ranking Greek hotels based on sustainability criteria, as well as their evaluation and certification according to their environmental and social footprint, was discussed today in a meeting between the Greek Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HHF), Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, the President of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), Mr. Giorgos Stasinos, and the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Mr. Andreas Fiorentinos.<\/p>\n

This is an innovative, globally pioneering hotel ranking system that adopts a holistic approach to addressing modern challenges and issues stemming from the climate crisis.<\/p>\n

As Ms. Kefalogianni stated, the ranking system essentially serves as a roadmap for sustainability, resilience, and sustainable development, aligning with the Ministry of Tourism\u2019s strategy for the qualitative advancement of Greek tourism.<\/p>\n

The Minister informed the presidents of the chambers, who are working on the criteria and studies, that the initial legislation for the system is already included in the Ministry of Tourism’s draft bill, which will be made available for public consultation in the coming days.<\/p>\n

\u201cSustainable tourism development is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Tourism. In this context, we are moving forward with the immediate establishment of a ranking system for Greek hotels based on the integration of sustainability principles and the alignment with national and European climate goals. This system\u2019s evaluation of accommodations represents a global innovation,\u201d Ms. Kefalogianni emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
