Athens is undergoing a significant transformation to effectively address the challenges faced by modern metropolises today, including overtourism, the climate crisis, and social inclusion. Our goal is to create a city with a human face, ensuring social cohesion and developing common solutions to contemporary problems.<\/p>\n
In our commitment to social equity, Athens has become the first municipality in Greece, and among the few in Europe, to eliminate municipal taxes for energy-vulnerable families, single-parent families, large families, and people with disabilities. This initiative directly alleviates financial burdens on those facing energy insecurity.<\/p>\n
To enhance our city’s resilience against climate challenges, we have achieved our annual goal of planting 5,000 trees in Athens. This effort aims to improve urban green spaces and combat the urban heat island effect.<\/p>\n
Recognizing the importance of sustainable tourism, we have developed the Sustainable Tourism Capacity Study in collaboration with the University of Piraeus and with the participation of citizens and institutional bodies. This study provides insights into how many tourists our city can sustainably accommodate, ensuring that tourism benefits both residents and visitors while preserving our cultural and environmental resources.<\/p>\n

Durch diese Initiative wird die finanzielle Belastung derjenigen, die von Energieunsicherheit betroffen sind, unmittelbar gemindert.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Um die Widerstandsf\u00e4higkeit unserer Stadt gegen\u00fcber klimatischen Herausforderungen zu verbessern, haben wir unser j\u00e4hrliches Ziel erreicht, 5.000 B\u00e4ume in Athen zu pflanzen. Damit wollen wir die st\u00e4dtischen Gr\u00fcnfl\u00e4chen verbessern und den st\u00e4dtischen W\u00e4rmeinseleffekt bek\u00e4mpfen.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In Anerkennung der Bedeutung des nachhaltigen Tourismus haben wir in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universit\u00e4t Pir\u00e4us und unter Beteiligung von B\u00fcrgern und institutionellen Einrichtungen die Studie zur Kapazit\u00e4t des nachhaltigen Tourismus entwickelt.
