After twelve years, the acclaimed theater group Emeis brings back to the stage its groundbreaking socio-political dark comedy Interview<\/em>, directed by Christos Thanos.<\/p>\n

A theatrical phenomenon that captivated audiences in Greece and abroad for five consecutive years, Interview<\/em> returns more relevant than ever. The production will run from October 17, 2025, to January 10, 2026, at OLVIO Theater, exploring once again the absurd, humorous, and deeply human dimensions of power, control, and survival.<\/p>\n

A job interview.<\/p>\n

Four candidates.<\/p>\n

One voice.<\/p>\n

Humiliating questions and absurd trials unfold into a tragicomic examination of human behavior under pressure.<\/p>\n

Created collectively by all members of Emeis<\/em> during rehearsals in spring 2013, the play received an honorary distinction from the UNESCO Club of Piraeus and Islands.<\/p>\n

Since its debut, Interview<\/em> has been performed not only in theaters but also in detention centers, rehabilitation facilities, schools, and festivals. It was also staged by the Hellenic Cultural Center of New York in 2015, directed by Lito Triantafyllidou, and has been presented by numerous professional and amateur ensembles across Greece.<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s previous performance cycle was presented without a ticket fee, based on voluntary audience contributions, reflecting its commitment to accessible art.<\/p>\n

Concept<\/strong><\/p>\n

The oppressor and the Oppressed. The system and the Citizens. Capital and the Consumers. Employers and Employees. The voice and the Candidates.Timeless dynamics of domination, dependency, and resistance are presented with biting humor and empathy. In a world where opposing forces drift further apart, Emeis<\/em> dissects their tragicomic relationship, determined to strip away despair and reclaim laughter as an act of resistance.<\/p>\n

Director\u2019s Note – Christos Thanos<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we created Interview<\/em> in 2013, at the height of the so-called \u2018economic crisis,\u2019 we couldn\u2019t have imagined that, a decade later, the concerns we expressed would still resonate so strongly.<\/p>\n

Job insecurity, workplace exploitation, the erosion of rights, and social inequality remain fundamental traits of our society \u2014 not only in Greece, but globally.<\/p>\n

As artists, we have a duty to comment on and expose injustice in every form, as loudly as possible. Humor is our main tool. Through comedy, we hope not only to entertain but to provoke reflection and awakening \u2014 without succumbing to gloom or cynicism.<\/p>\n

Directing Interview<\/em> again after ten years feels like encountering it for the first time. Above all, it is a joyful reunion with the friends and collaborators who form Emeis<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In collaboration with liminal, the performance features SDH subtitles (for Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences) in both Greek and English.<\/p>\n
