Its name has its roots in the Latin word valere which means health and strength. It is mainly found in Northern and Continental Greece.<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Spearmint<\/strong><br\/>Used for stomach pains, palpitations, spasms,<br\/>nausea, insomnia and migraines. Boiling the leaves in water and inhaling the water vapour helps fight colds. It is also indicated in bowel diseases.<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Licorice<\/strong><br\/>Perennial plant found mainly in Macedonia. It can be used as a decoction and is effective in discomfort<br\/>stomach, inflammation and dry cough.<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Vervasco (flamos)<\/strong><br\/>Very common plant throughout Greece. It multiplies on its own and grows on bare ground, embankments and dry meadows. It is used in productive cough and bronchial catarrh.<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Aniseed (aniseed)<\/strong><br\/>Plant with a characteristic nice smell, it is digestive and helps<br\/>in slimming, colic and abdominal pain. It is also drunk to treat bronchial catarrh.<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Rosemary<\/strong><br\/>Externally used in skin irritations and<br\/>in abrasions for rheumatic diseases. It is tonic and suitable<br\/>for cholesterol, and toothache. The infusion can also be used against dandruff and hair loss, as a final rinse for hair. It should not be used during pregnancy<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Thyme<\/strong><br\/>The infusion is used for chest infections and as an expectorant in bronchial catarrh. It fights fever and<br\/>is useful for skin infections, digestive system, and stomach intestinal nerve contractions. It should not be used during pregnancy.<\/li>&#13;\n<li><strong>Parsley (Petrosellino)<\/strong><br\/>It is native to Greece, but it is also cultivated with seeds. The decoction is diuretic.
