The Minister of Tourism Ms. Olga Kefalogiannis signed today a decision that starts the implementation of an accelerated training programme in the profession of Guide at the University of Crete from 7 March to 2 May, at the University’s facilities in Rethymno and Heraklion. This decision follows the implementation of similar programmes at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Ionian University, while the accelerated programme at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is also expected.

The Minister, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni stressed that “the great interest in the profession of tour guide, which has been shown by those interested, is particularly important for Greek tourism, as the large increase in the number of tourists who choose our country, makes the need for more professionals with a thorough and scientific background imperative. Besides, at the Ministry of Tourism we are working towards upgrading the experience of our visitors in cultural tourism, which highlights the culture and the great history of Greece.”
