Kalochori & Romiri
Two remarkable villages of Lykodimos are presented by Architectural Routes of Messina with a series of tributes on the internet and on the social networking page “To the beauty that is lost”.
Kalochori
A picturesque village of the Municipality of Messini with hospitable residents that is adjacent to major tourist destinations and important attractions.
Kalochori charms the visitor with its uninterrupted view, the hospitality of its inhabitants and the surrounding terrain. Romiri is also very close by
Romry
Quiet peaceful and secluded. Of stone and memory immersed in the embrace of nature, it squeezes you in its own embrace. Full of stone fragments, stone houses, stone houses, cultural heritage monuments that some even withstand and others seem like defeated by a fierce battle and battle here has not been done as history says and conqueror has not stepped. Romiri is known for the song of Papalambraina and the great festival. The name of the village is attributed to the fact that it was inhabited by Greeks, that is Romioi, as the Greeks were called at that time, as the conquerors did not attempt to occupy it because of its location.Romiri became known by the incidents that took place when thieves in 1860 entered the house of Papalambros to rob him because they had information that he was guarding the money of the metropolis of Methoni. The well-known and world-famous folk song ‘Papalabrina’ was written on the occasion of this incident. It should be mentioned that great events take place during which Romiri becomes the focal point of the wider region.
In the natural boundaries of the Municipality of Pylos Nestoros and the Municipality of Messini – a cultural reference point and a cultural coupling worth seeing as an occasion for touring common action and natural heritage monuments.
The two villages can be the focus of both tourists, tourists, nature lovers and a reference point for those involved in religious tourism. Mild interventions should be implemented, mainly by shaping the dirt road that connects the two villages in such a way that it attracts the traveller and has elements that allow the road and the path to coexist without disturbing the natural beauty of the area.
Yannis Laskaris, Aris Barcouras and Niki Giannakopoulou collaborate for the presentation of the two villages.
