
The Minister of Tourism, Mrs Olga Kefalogianni attended today the regular meeting of the Board of Directors of SETE, where the positive trend of Greek tourism for this year was discussed with the President of the Association, Mr Ioannis Paraschis and the members, with the increase recorded both in relation to 2022 and 2019.
The Minister then stressed the importance of developing a common approach between the Ministry of Tourism and the Association, focusing on a strong, competitive and sustainable tourism, while she referred in detail to the major challenges for the future of the sector, such as tackling climate change, overtourism, the increased need to comply with legality by strengthening the control mechanisms, the critical labour issues, the intense competition that is resurgent, and of course, very important issues of competence, such as
During the discussion, Mrs.Kefalogianni sent an optimistic message that the country can establish itself as an attractive global destination, with a tourist season that will go beyond the few summer months, and will extend for longer periods of time, taking advantage of its inexhaustible wealth, while she set three goals, so that we can meet these modern challenges.
As he said, the first objective is sustainable tourism development with the completion of the interconnection of destinations and the diffusion of visitors to the 13 regions, the second objective is the enrichment and diversification of the tourism product with emphasis on the promotion of new products, experiences and destinations, while the third objective is to strengthen the image and identity of the Greek tourism product in the international environment.
Finally, the stakes of the next day, as he said, is that of a sustainable and long-term development of Greek tourism, which will add the most to the Greek economy and of course to Greek society, calling on those present to contribute with their cooperation to this common goal.
