With an inspiring Opening Ceremony on the 21st of August, the 7th International Documentary Festival “Beyond Borders” will open its curtain, which will take place in Castellorizo during the last week of August, 21/08-28/08.

The opening film of this year’s event will be Radiograph of A Family (IDFA Awards 2020), the acclaimed director Firouzeh Khosrovani. A film of experimental cinematic form and fluid audiovisual representations, which deals with the universal core of human lives: love stories are dissected when personal paths and individual desires no longer converge. All this against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution in the late 1970s.

The opening ceremony will close with a musical performance by H. Saias, dedicated to the Hellenism of the East. Smyrna, Rebecca and Pontian songs, will compose a musical feast full of melodies and rhythms, reminding us that the music we have today is not only combinations of sounds and rhythms but mainly memories, feelings, memories and experiences of a whole people who for many centuries have been making their joy and pain into music, wherever they are.
