Full-service experience on board Timișoara – Athens flights
The route is operated with two weekly frequencies, on Thursdays and Sundays, with morning departures, optimized for both business and leisure travelers. The average flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes per segment.
The flight schedule is designed to ensure easy access to Athens’ connection network, allowing passengers to continue their journey to numerous destinations across Greece, including the Aegean islands, within the same day.
Passengers benefit from a full-service onboard experience, with Premium Economy and Economy Class options. All tickets include free seat selection, an 8 kg cabin bag, and a 4 kg personal item. Flights are operated with modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, in a 148-seat all-economy configuration, recently added to the AnimaWings fleet and allocated to the Timișoara base starting April 2026.
Mr. Marius Pandel, CEO of AnimaWings. “Timișoara is one of the most important economic centers in western Romania, and developing air connectivity in this region is a priority for AnimaWings. By launching the direct route to Athens, we provide passengers with fast access to an important regional hub, serving both business needs and one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in Europe. Athens also acts as a gateway to the Greek islands and Aegean cruises, and this new connection responds to a real market demand.
At present, this route is not served by direct scheduled flights, and its introduction contributes to facilitating mobility, strengthening commercial relations, and supporting tourism between the two countries.”
Mrs. Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director Communications & Marketing of AIA, stated:
“We warmly welcome AnimaWings’ new route connecting Athens with Timişoara, the main economic, social and cultural centre in Western Romania.
On the occasion of the launch of the route, we are celebrating this direct, year-round connection between our two cities, and the further strengthening of the air-connectivity between our two countries. We remain firmly committed to continue our close cooperation with our airline partner for their spectacular success and development in the Athens market.”
Currently, AnimaWings operates regular flights to major European airports with consistent frequencies. In addition to established destinations such as Paris (CDG), Stockholm (Arlanda), and Istanbul (IST), the Romanian airline has recently launched new direct routes from Bucharest to major European cities including London Gatwick (from March 22), Geneva (from March 30), Milan Malpensa (from May 11), as well as Munich (from April 2). These routes complement AnimaWings’ expanded network, which now reaches a total of 56 destinations.
