Dynamic Participation of Pieria Regional Unit and the Tourism Development and Promotion Organization of Pieria (P.O.T.A.P.) at the 39th International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia 2024

The Pieria Regional Unit and the Tourism Development and Promotion Organization of Pieria (P.O.T.A.P.) had a dynamic presence at the 39th International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia 2024, held from November 14 to 16, 2024, at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition and Conference Center.

Philoxenia is the most important annual meeting for travel agents, businesses, organizations, and tourism stakeholders in Greece, serving as a key networking hub for the tourism sector.

The Pieria Regional Unit and P.O.T.A.P. showcased the region’s rich tourism offerings at a dedicated space within the pavilion of the Region of Central Macedonia. Through an extensive array of printed and digital material, the unique natural beauty and rich history of Pieria were highlighted, positioning the area as a truly exceptional destination that blends history, culture, gastronomy, tourism infrastructure, and alternative forms of tourism—all under the shadow of the iconic Mount Olympus, a global natural landmark.

Throughout the three-day event, numerous B2B meetings were held by P.O.T.A.P.’s board members, along with active participation in various forums, where the diverse tourism opportunities of Pieria were presented in detail.

Visitors were thoroughly informed about the region by the Deputy Regional Governor of Pieria, Ms. Sofia Mavridou, the Vice President of P.O.T.A.P., Mr. Odysseas Manolopoulos, and the Financial Manager of P.O.T.A.P., Mr. Stelios Ouzas, through an abundance of informative material.

Both Deputy Regional Governor Ms. Sofia Mavridou and P.O.T.A.P. board members conducted targeted meetings with travel agents, representatives of tourism offices, media professionals, tour guides, and other tourism-related entrepreneurs from around the globe. These interactions contributed significantly to achieving the initial goals set for the exhibition.

On the occasion of this year’s Philoxenia exhibition, Deputy Regional Governor Ms. Sofia Mavridou stated:
“The participation of Pieria in this year’s Philoxenia contributed to the region’s extroversion and promotion. Through collaboration with all stakeholders, along with hard work, consistency, and planning, we are showcasing Pieria as a prime tourism destination, available for visitors all year round.”

From his side, P.O.T.A.P. board member Mr. Stelios Ouzas noted:
“Our presence at the Region of Central Macedonia’s pavilion was an excellent opportunity to engage with travel agents and potential visitors. Our primary goal is to establish Pieria as a dynamic destination on the map of both domestic and global tourism markets.
