
The next actions of the Commission “Greece 2021”, until the completion of its term of office on 30 June, was mentioned in an interview with the SKY show “Atairistoi” by the President of the Commission, Yanna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki. Mrs.Angelopoulou highlighted the donation of 100 thousand euros to the Red Cross for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, the purchase of ten fire engines for Civil Protection and the grant of an additional 100 thousand euros for the third phase of the research of the doctors of the Papanikolaou Hospital for the so-called “Greek medicine” against coronavirus.
He then referred to the actions to follow. The donation of communication systems and modern equipment to the Fire Brigade, the strengthening of the General Staff, the funding of research by the Hellenic Stroke Organisation on primary prevention, the creation of a platform to facilitate the integration of people on the borderline of autism into the labour market, the creation of a historical library in Spetses, the restoration of the church founded by Theodoros Kolokotronis in Nafplio, etc.
Actions that will return 100% of the surplus from the anniversary year to society, thanks to the Commission’s good management. Ms Angelopoulou clarified that the Commission’s term of office, as well as her own as its President, will expire next June, while the Commission will remain in its legal form for another 18 months in order to receive all these projects it finances. “To deliver what has been decided and promised,” he said.
Ms Angelopoulou stressed that the Commission does not speak with announcements, but with a report, which has also been approved by an international auditing company. 1827 proposals were submitted by society and 384 were implemented and all this without the slightest burden on the budget. Everything was done with sponsorships and the resources raised by the Commission’s Monetary Programme. “It was not a spectacular event, it was a real thing, despite the circumstances of the pandemic we inspired the people and the society participated”, said the President of the “Greece 2021” Committee. “We finally did it. Not given the circumstances. We did it with an exclamation mark,” he added.
Regarding her plans for after the end of her term of office on June 30, she stressed that when one loves one’s country and has energy and spirit, one must give back what life has given one. “The effort you make should never stop, there is no pensionable time for me” said Mrs.Angelopoulou in response to the relevant questions of Yannis Ntsounou and Christos Koutras.
