Just before we reach the monastery of Prussos, we come across the site “Typoma”. The Virgin Mary passed and walked along this road to go to Prussos. The Monastery of Panagia, known to the Greeks as Panagia Prousiotissa, is located just next to the village of Proussos 31 km. south of Karpenisi at an altitude of 900 meters. It was founded in the 9th century and holds in its arms the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, named after the city of Prusa in Asia Minor, where the icon originated. A visit to the historical museum that still preserves sacred vestments, chalices framed by gold, the chariots of Karaiskakis – hosted in the monastery during the period of the Turkish occupation. He made a vow to gild the icon, which he carried out with the gilders of the time after his recovery. He thanked the Virgin Mary for the miracle of his healing. Proceed to the chapel of the monastery to venerate the miraculous, full of vows, icon of the Virgin Mary.
