The Municipal Foundation ‘Costas Tsoklis Museum’, opens to the public on Friday 18 June 2021

PRESS RELEASE

The Municipal Foundation ‘Costas Tsoklis Museum’,
opens to the public on Friday 18 June 2021, with a new exhibition
(with the most recent and important projects of the past)

Time as a theme and as a proposal of viewing, under the thought of Kostas Tsoklis

“Everything is either past or future

“Now that the time of my physical future is limited,
I discover the past,
as the only possible extension of my life and perception
and as an infinite source of experience for shaping.
But the starting point for tomorrow, as for yesterday, remains the now. The more your work contains yesterday and the more successfully anticipates tomorrow, the more representative of today it is.”

The “Costas Tsoklis Museum” in Tinos, presents another form of the restless artist’s work.

This is the new series of works for 2021 (the period of general confinement) entitled “Brilliant Nights” and “Heavenly Bodies”.
The 2015 project “Procrustes”.
The much-exhibited (in important exhibitions abroad and in Greece) work of his “Living Painting”, “The Traveller” of 1988.
The 2020 series of drawings entitled “Diadromi”, in which the artist presents his long-standing relationship with art at all stages of his artistic career.

And the work “Noon” of 1973, as a tribute to the memory of his dear friend and collaborator Epi Protonatariou – Pavlidis, of the “Desmos” Art Hall, who deprived us of her precious presence during this unbearable time.

The newly built Theatre of our Museum,
designed by the architect Manos Perrakis,
will be inaugurated on Friday 27 August 2021,
with a speech by the historian Maria Efthymiou:
“Rereading our history”.
