The wines in Attica

The wines in Attica

Autumn is just around the corner and what could be better than to escape from the routine of everyday life and explore the vineyards and wineries of Attica? We prolong the joy of the holidays since most of Attica’s wineries are in dreamy countryside locations, mainly in the Mediterranean.

The dominant variety is the variety of Savvatiano, known to most people from Retsina. It is a variety with great adaptability to soil conditions and drought resistance. In Attica, Savvatiano gives us delicate wines with wonderful aromas of flowers, fruits and herbs, pleasant acidity, freshness, balanced taste and long aftertaste. In the case of Retsina, a fine quality resin is added during vinification, which gives the wine its characteristic aromas and flavour. Apart from Savatiano, white wines in Attica include Roditis, Malagouzia, Assyrtiko and Chardonnay, while red wines include Agiorgitiko, Grenache rouge, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In Attica there are amazing wineries to visit and taste, some of which are Alagiannis, the Agricultural Cooperative of Koropi – where we will find the oldest wine press, Papagiannakos, Markos, Gikas, Strofilias, Kokotou, Zachaios, Greek Wine Cellars, G. Lafazanis, Anastasia Fragou, Oenotria Earth.

Enjoy and Yamas!
