PACKS & ANTIPAXI – SHINING JEWELS OF THE IONIAN SEA

Endless greenery, beaches with turquoise waters, caves and thermal springs. Here time stops as the “fairytale” landscapes overwhelm all our senses. Mythology says that Paxos was part of Corfu but Poseidon with his trident separated them to create a “love nest” for himself and his wife. First stop is Gaios, the capital of the island with two small islands “protecting” it, Agios Nikolaos and Panagia, creating a dreamy channel. Inland, the picturesque green villages of Loggos and Lakka as well as the sulphurous thermal springs of Ozias, Giannas and Glyfada. You will find the same rare beauty in Antipaxos with the famous beaches of Voutoumi and Vrika.

Starting this year from spring, the island will be filled with the sounds of classical music through the well-established Paxos Festival, which is accompanied by a series of events until September.

The place is fragrant with pine trees that cover both islands like a “green sheet” and the scent of olives in the vast olive groves of Paxiotiki.

The flavours of the two islands are similar to those of Corfu. You will taste pastitsada, burdeto and sofritto and the local speciality of Paxos, the tsiligourdopita.

Take a boat around the island to explore the small islands around Paxos and Antipaxos, with its beautiful beaches, which in spring will seem somewhat deserted. Admire the ravines, caves with impressive domes. Follow the old paths, from Mousmouli to Porto Ozias and the route from Manesatika to Ipapanti in the north of Paxos.

INFO The first Resurrection takes place at St. James in Fundana on M. Saturday, with the traditional striking of the crosses. Resurrection songs can be heard in the main streets and the traditional alleys of Gai.
