9th Beyond Borders : Meet the exciting films that will compete at the Castellorizo International Documentary Festival

The Beyond Borders International Documentary Festival of Castellorizo will take place for the 9th year in the beautiful, coastal island of Castellorizo, from 25 August to1 September 2024.

Its programme will host three different screening scenes: The Main Competition Section, which includes 18 medium and feature documentary films and the Micro Competition Section, which includes 24 short documentary films, while the third screening stage – outside the competition programme – will be the Panorama stage, which will host different film tributes every day.

Beyond Borders focuses on documentary films that deal with historical events and personalities and socio-political issues. This year, festival-goers will have the opportunity to see bold, compelling documentaries on issues such as the collateral damage of wars and divisions, illegal work, migration and refugees, addictions, the environmental crisis, colonialism, power, gender and ethnic identity, human exploitation, disability, family relations. Many of the documentaries have travelled to the world’s major film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Venice, Locarno, Karlovy Vary, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, etc. In its screening programme, the festival included 37 world, international and Greek premieres.
