The new R 18 Roctane joins the R 18, R 18 Classic, R 18 B and R 18 Transcontinental as the fifth member of the R 18 family. Once again, it harkens back to the history and tradition of BMW Motorrad and combines cutting-edge technology in the world of motorcycles with the design and charm of bygone eras.

Both technically and visually, the BMW R 18 borrows elements from famous BMW models such as the BMW R 5, again focusing on the basic elements of the bike: Sleek looks, with technology of substance and with the boxer engine at the heart of driving pleasure.

Through the marriage of classic design and modern, no-frills technology, an exciting overall philosophy is created. This combination offers a unique emotional driving experience with the model featuring a cleverly styled design language with an aerodynamically sculpted rear section.

At the heart of the new BMW R 18 Roctane is the familiar 2-cylinder flat twin engine, the so-called “big boxer”. Not only because of its impressive appearance, but also thanks to its technical specifications, the engine of the new R 18 Roctane is reminiscent of the traditional air-cooled boxer engines. It has a capacity of 1,802 cc and produces 91 hp at 4,750 rpm. From 2,000 to 4,000 rpm it delivers more than 150 Nm of torque at all times.

The suspension of the new BMW R 18 Roctane deliberately lacks electronic adjustment options. Instead, the telescopic fork and a centrally mounted suspension knee with travel-dependent damping and adjustable spring preload ensure excellent control and riding comfort.

The braking system of the new BMW R 18 Roctance consists of two disc brakes at the front and one at the rear, combined with four-piston fixed calipers. The front rim dimension is 3.5 x 21″ and the tyre is 120/70 B 21, while the rear is 5.5 x 18″ and 180/55 B 18.

The R 18 Roctane has a two-tiered saddle that tapers towards the rear, with straps for the passenger, and is equipped with running boards in combination with a gear lever. The tall, black-coated steering wheel ensures an upright and relaxed driving position.

The new R 18 Roctane is painted black as standard. Three riding modes as well as ASC and MSR systems are standard equipment and ensure a high level of driving comfort.
