Fam Trip EOT: sustainable tourism in Naxos enchants the British market the British market

 

 The promotion of Naxos as an ideal sustainable tourism destination for the British market was the aim of the familiarization trip (fam trip) organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) office in the UK & Ireland, with the participation of four executives from British travel companies on the island.

The trip took place from 16 to 19 September 2024 in collaboration with Naxos Municipality, theRegion of South Aegean, the Cyclades Preservation Fund and the renowned professional tourism magazine TTG.

The programme included visits to an organic farm, an organic apiary, museums of olive oil mill and citrus distillery, hiking trails in the mountain villages of Naxos, cooking lessons with organic ingredients in a wood-fired oven, PDO cheese tasting, as well as a meeting and information from the Naxos Wildlife Protection Association.

 

The travel consultants gained the best experiences of Naxos and the diversity of sustainable tourism opportunities offered by the island and assured that they will include Naxos in their clientele as “Sustainability Ambassadors”.

The familiarization trip was attended by travel agents from the major platforms Travel Counsellor, Not Just Travel, The Holiday Village, as well as a TTG journalist. Kingdom & Kingdom of the Netherlands. Ireland Ms. Eleni Skarveli, while the article on the trip is scheduled to be posted in October.

It is noted that the promotion of the island of Naxos is part of the TTG Sustainable Ambassadors action supported by the EOT UK Office.
Kingdom & Kingdom of Greece. Ireland in collaboration with the popular business magazine TTG, which is aimed at over 10,000 subscribers, mainly tour operators and professionals in the UK tourism market.

 

Every year 20 tour operators attend the sustainability programme and win, in addition to the Sustainable Ambassador title, a place on a fam trip.
The GNTO office in the UK is proud to announce the first ever sustainability ambassador.
Kingdom & Kingdom Ireland is participating for the second year in the TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes initiative organised by TTG.
In 2023, in collaboration with T/O Intrepid and Avis, a similar fam trip was organised in Crete to showcase sustainable practices on the island.
