“Girls”… on the Sun: Six + one destinations to star in this summer

Come on, let’s go! We travel to dreamy islands … of the female gender, shimmering like diamonds under the glittering rays of the sun. Islands that have become the backdrop for beloved Greek and foreign films, this summer are transformed into your own set to star in your unforgettable holidays.

Andros

One morning… is not enough to relax under the hot summer sun on the windy beach of Andros with fine sand and crystal blue waters, made famous by the movie “Girls in the Sun” with Yannis Voglis and Anne Lomberg. Batsi is now a cosmopolitan destination. With the song of Xarchakos gently “rolling” in your ears, wander around the amphitheatrically built fishing village with the white houses and the colorful orange windows and enjoy idyllic moments by the sea. Search for the fairies who, they say, once lived in Piso Vrysi and explore the small green villages of the island, each of which has a story to tell, from Arni with the water of forgetfulness to Ateni and the verdant Katakilos.

Antiparos

A wide, clear blue sea with transparent waters spreads across the beautiful beaches of Antiparos. “Aspronissi” in the famous film by Vougiouklaki, “Madalena”, has become a destination for the rich and famous, with a friendly atmosphere, unique nightlife and of course endless diving. The legendary Camping beach, the popular Soros, the sheltered and popular for water sports lovers Psaraliki, form an idyllic setting for a unique summer “shoot”. Follow in the footsteps of Madalena from the Castle to the Cave, the only vertical in the whole of Europe, with stalactites of rare beauty that nature carved over millions of years.

Rhodes

Let your life take the road … and let it take you to the “Hollywood of Greece”, the beautiful Rhodes, with its Byzantine and medieval air, its picturesque villages, its wonderful sandy beaches with crystal clear waters. From the city of Rhodes, Kallithea to Lindos, tour the island with the same cinematic air of the 60’s and 70’s, when the island was the backdrop for “Navarone’s Cannons”, “Decoy”, “Girls to Kiss”, “A Greek in Haremi” and many others. Don’t miss a swim at Anthony Quinn Beach, a pebbled creek with pine trees resting on the clear blue waters near Faliraki, which enchanted the legendary actor.

Hydra

Time stops in the wonderful Hydra, at the time when Sophia Loren sang in Greek “What is this thing called love” and Melina Mercouri sang “My star, my moon”. Hum them as you wander through the picturesque streets with the mansions with their softly coloured doors and windows or relax on one of the island’s unique beaches with clear, transparent waters.

Corfu

For your eyes only…the Ionian archduchess is transformed into a setting of action, adventure, escape, romance. Follow in the footsteps of Roger Moore, who as James Bond defeated the “bad guys” in the Old Fortress in Corfu Town, Achillion, the picturesque Kalami beach and the lush, running-water village of Pagi. With Mouse Island in the background, get to know the city of Corfu, as Elena Nathaniel described it as a tour guide to tourists, enchanting the German prince with its beauty in the film “Operation Apollo”. In its picturesque cantons, look for the cinematic mansion of Angelina (Rena Vlahopoulou) and that of Vougiouklaki in the film “The Lady and the Tramp”.

Mykonos

A setting for wealthy tycoons, for passionate lovers, for lives that change and of course always with the necessary happy ending. Take the most stylish photos with the characteristic windmills in the background like Erika Broyer and Vangelis Silinos in “Parisiana”. Wander the picturesque streets of the island like Anthony Queen and Jacqueline Bisset in the movie “The Greek Master” and experience the most passionate and unexpected love on the beach of Agios Ioannis, just like the protagonists of “Shirley Valentine”. Little Venice could not be missing from the shots, where Bourne Identity ends up in the beauty of the landscape, the Cycladic architecture of white and blue with the waves crashing against the rocks and the facades of the houses.

Sifnos

“A boat that rolls on the water, a sweet destination”… is Sifnos. An undiscovered treasure is waiting for you to “set up” your own setting. Cycladic landscape, with white houses scattered around the island and beautiful beaches to spend the most relaxing summer. Some with fine golden sand and others with pebbles. Some are rocky, decorated with tamarisks, sheltered or sandy with a view of the neighbouring islands. The “Island” of the film of the same name is an escape to white and blue. Slow down and let yourself go in her arms to give you the refreshing “Kiss of Life” that will fill you with energy for the coming winter.
