Laconia – UNEXPOSABLE FORM

Enchanting beaches from the Laconian Mani to Monemvasia, a riot of natural colours and enchanting landscapes with the “mysterious” Taygetos in the background, stone houses and castle towns. This summer experience the inexhaustible beauty of Laconia. Start from the legendary Sparta, the place of brave warriors and mythical kings. Descend to Gythio, the “Land of the Gods”, as its name suggests, with beautiful neoclassical buildings by the sea. Opposite is the islet of Kranai, where Paris and Helen took refuge before leaving for Troy. Nearby, the caves of rare beauty, the caves of Diros. Experience the “stone” beauty of Mani, in Areopolis and Oitilo. Be enchanted by the ruins of the ancient splendour of Mystras and the vibrant Monemvasia and admire ancient submerged cities in Plytra and Pavlopetri.

The gentle sea breeze of the Laconic Gulf joins the scents of the Taygetos herbs, oregano, tea and mint.

Folk songs are an integral part of Laconian music with the popular Mani dirges. However, it is not missing from the ecclesiastical tradition, as Goranoi is the birthplace of Peter Labadarios, a leading teacher of post-Byzantine and ecclesiastical music, also known as the “Mozart of Greece”.

Countless golden beaches await you for refreshing dives and diving, with turquoise waters and landscapes of exotic beauty. The heavenly beaches of Elafonisos, the endless picturesque beaches of Gythio, Monemvasia, Neapolis, Oitilos, Areopolis and the exotic Vlychada stand out. For unforgettable ecotourism tours, visit the geopark of Kavomalia with the petrified forest and the Cave of Kastania in Neapoli, the Strongyli lagoon and the wetland of Gerakas.

Enjoy Maniakian grass pie, lamb with baked potatoes, sklina, raffioli and sousamades, all cooked with the beneficial olive oil of Laconia. Accompany with Malvasia wine and sweeten with the famous Monemvasia almonds.

INFO The pyramid of Taygetos has remained an enigma for many centuries. It is located on its highest peak, at an altitude of 2,407m and many claim that it is the oldest in the world. Is it natural or artificial? Nobody knows yet. However, those who climb up to the chapel of Prophet Elias can admire a wonderful sight, the shadow of the pyramid forming a triangle.
