Also towards spring, special bus stops will be placed in the city, with illuminated telematics signs. The President of KTEL Arkadia S.A. Nikos Koutsogiorgas spoke about the new urban transport plan and announced that more than 500 cards will be issued with very good discounts to students, while there will be provision for the administrative staff, but also for the Teaching Professors of the University of Peloponnese, stressing that: ¨…something new is being created in urban transport for the city of Tripoli and the University…!!!¨ Mr. Koutsogiorgas appealed ¨..to advertise the new design as best as possible as it is included in the new services of the KTEL N. Arkadia SA and we should all contribute in every way in this direction.!!!!¨ The President of KTEL N. Arkadia SA praised the determination of both the Mayor and the Rector. The Rector of the University of Peloponnese, Athanasios Katsis, said that he will transfer to the students the new routes that can serve the citizens of the city and will also serve the University significantly because it will facilitate the new students. The aim is, as mentioned by the Rector, to use as much as possible the city buses that will serve the students, due to the operation of the Nursing School from this year in Tripoli, but also the citizens who will be able to leave their car at home and with a small fee to move around the city…!!!!

Katsis pointed out that the courses have started normally, there is no thought of rearranging and changing the map on the issue of the seat of the University of Peloponnese. The Chair as he stressed: ¨…is and will remain in the Arcadian Capital..!!!!

The Mayor of Tripoli, Kostas Tziumis, stressed that from this year the city will host 450 new students, while there will be new departments from next year and it is important to facilitate their travel quickly and economically. At the same time it was mentioned that the Mayor said that: ¨…these routes also serve the citizens. The previous municipal authority has started a cooperation with the company of KTEL South Arcadia SA, not only for the routes, but also for the stops. We are preparing a study and will be included in the “Philodemos” program to build 16 modern stops in the city’s fabric…!!!¨ The University of Peloponnese, Mr. Tziumis pointed out, is the most important thing that has happened in the Peloponnese in the last 20 to 30 years and the Municipality will be next to the University, to connect it with the local community. While the road leading to the University is a long-standing problem that needs to be addressed. It is not an honor for the City as the Mayor stated in closing to have this road. There is a programmatic contract with the District for lighting and access and the City’s goal is to begin the process of widening. Finally, what was noted by all was the good climate of cooperation for a more developed Tripoli on the issue of the University so that with the start of the new routes, the appropriate structures can be implemented, such as the construction of the road to the University, which until now has been inadequate and without sidewalks and lighting. The stops will be funded through the Philodemus programme and locations have been selected that meet all the criteria laid down in the law.
