Wine Routes in the Peloponnese

We are slowly entering Autumn and it is a nice opportunity for small getaways, even on weekends to nearby destinations such as the Peloponnese. Pelopos Island is the largest vineyard area in Greece, and the second largest in terms of volume of bottled wine after Sterea Greece.

Known since ancient times and all over the world for the production of Sultanina and Corinthian raisins, it offers us amazing wines from the Moschofilero varieties (mainly in Mantineia), Mavrodaphne (mainly in Patras), Agiorgitiko (mainly in Nemea), but also Muscat white Roditis, Asproudes, and international varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Refosco, Syrah, Pinot noir, Viognier, Sauvignon blanc. We find PDO (protected designation of origin) wine categories for standardized, branded wines with the place name of the region, but also PGI (protected geographical indication) wines that declare their geographical origin at the level of a region, regional unit. PDO wines include wines designated as OPAP and OPE (superior quality wines and controlled origin wines, respectively) and PGI wines include local TSO wines and traditional wines. We present, therefore, the wine roads of the Peloponnese, with some of the wineries that can be visited. So, in Argolida we find the wineries Skouras, Koroniotis and Papantonis, in Arcadia the wineries Tselepou, Troupi and Spyropoulos, in Achaia the wineries Antonopoulos, Cavino, Tetramythos, Rouvali, Riva, Quintoni Achaea, Sant’or, in Ilia the estate of Mercouri, Ktima Paliomylos, Brindiki, Stavropoulou, Olympia Earth, Mavrogianni, in Corinthia the
Papaioanou estate, Lafazani Winery, Repani, Biziou, Giouli, Gioulis, Stofilias, Lafkiotis, Gaia, Semeli, Zacharias, Raptis, Nepion, Palyvos, Gofas, Ladidis, Bayraktaris, in Laconia
the Theodorakos estate, Lacovino Monemvasia and in Messinia the winery Nestor and Panagiotopoulos. There, we can, upon request, tour the vineyards, visit the wineries and cellars, taste delicious award-winning wines and buy our favorite wines.

Good pleasure
