World first in Family & Family Sustainable Tourism: Sani Resort wins four more awards at the World Travel Awards 2023

 

 

 

Sani Resort won the “World’s Leading Family & Beach Resort” award for the fifth consecutive year and “World’s Leading Luxury Green Resort” for the fourth year in a row & is the only resort in the history of the institution to win these awards for so many consecutive years.

Quadruple award at the international awards and important institution of the global tourism industry, the World Travel Awards, won the Sani Resort. The emblematic resort of the Sani/Ikos Group in Kassandra, Halkidiki, which for 50 years has been a reference point for luxury family tourism in the Mediterranean, was awarded “Worlds Leading Family & Beach Resort” and “Worlds Leading Luxury Green Resort“, for the fifth and fourth consecutive year respectively, being the the only resort in the 30-year history of the awards to have won these prestigious distinctions so many times in a row. At the same time, for the first time, it also won the newly created “World’s Leading Sustainable Resort” award, recognizing the resort’s leadership in sustainable tourism. For the fifth consecutive year, Sani Resort has won the “World’s Leading Family & Beach Resort” award – an important distinction for the resort’s five hotels, Sani Beach, Sani Club, Porto Sani, Sani Asterias and Sani Dunes, which offer top quality hospitality and unique experiences for families from all over the world.

A world leader in sustainable tourism

Having won the “World’s Leading Luxury Green Resort” award for the fourth consecutive year, as well as the newly created “World’s Leading Sustainable Resort” award, Sani Resort continues to lead the way in the field of sustainability and sustainable tourism.

The resort has received many international awards and certifications and is a member of the UN Global Compact. Through the sustainability programme Sani Green, Sani Resort has developed initiatives and actions aimed at the sustainable operation of its hotels (in areas such as climate neutrality, natural resource management and the circular economy), the protection of ecosystems, the support of its communities and its people, while consistently promoting ecology and sustainable hospitality to its guests.

Sani Resort is the first resort in Greece to become carbon neutral in 2020 and is powered by electricity from 100% guaranteed renewable energy sources, having set a goal of zero carbon consumption (net zero) by 2030, while by the end of 2024 it will have completely eliminated single-use plastics and will produce zero waste for landfill. The resort supports more than 40 organisations each year that provide care for families and children, while working with scientific institutes and NGOs to protect and enhance the ecosystems around its hotels.

In 2021, Sani created -in collaboration with Bee Camp- the Sani Bee Spot, the largest interactive Bee Spot in Greece for the protection of bees and other pollinating insects, which are vital for the ecosystem. It also collaborates with the Hellenic Ornithological Society for the protection of the 225 species of birds living in the wetlands of Sani, and with the iSea organization for the recording of dolphins in the Thermaikos Gulf.

At the same time, it promotes the connection of its visitors with nature through ecological activities and experiences, such as tours in the Wetlands and the Forest of Sani, bird watching trails, etc.

At this year’s World Travel Awards, Sani Resort was named “World’s Leading Cultural Destination Resort” for the second time, based on the success of its annual festivals, Sani Festival and Sani Gourmet.

The internationally renowned Sani Festival, which has been held every summer at Sani Hill since 1992, bringing together music lovers from all over the world, has welcomed some of the greatest classical artists to its stage, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Bonnie Tyler and Chris Norman, UB40 ft Ali Campbell, Tom Odell, Bob Geldof, Jack Savoretti, Al Di Meola, Jan Garbarek and many others. It is the largest and most important private festival in Greece.
