A working meeting was held at the headquarters of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Athens, aiming to enhance the tourism promotion of Thessaly. Participants included the GNTO Secretary General, Mr. Andreas Fiorentinos; GNTO Tourism Promotion Director, Ms. Eleni Mitraki; Head of the General Directorate of Administration, Organization, and Promotion of the GNTO, Ms. Sofia Lazaridou; Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism for the Region of Thessaly, Ms. Natasa Adamopoulou; and Tourism Consultant for the Region of Thessaly, Ms. Maya Tsoclis.
Friendly Atmosphere and Strategic Collaborations
The meeting, conducted in an exceptionally friendly atmosphere and lasting two hours, focused on the strategic partnership between the Region of Thessaly and the GNTO. Key topics discussed included:
- The Volos/Nea Anchialos Airport and new flight routes planned for 2025.
- Targeted promotion of Thessaly in international tourism markets.
- Participation of the region in major international tourism exhibitions, as well as specialized events targeting niche markets.
- New tourism products that Thessaly can offer to enrich Greece’s broader tourism portfolio, with a particular focus on thematic tourism.
Fam Trips and Enhanced Promotion
Special emphasis was placed on organizing fam trips (familiarization trips) for journalists and tour operators, along with roadshows ahead of the summer season and new flights that will boost Thessaly’s connectivity with key tourism destinations.
