Great response to the investment programme for tourist ports

 

The submission period for investment projects under the Call for Expression of Interest for the project “Upgrading of Tourist Ports” of Action 16931 “Tourism Development”, with a total public expenditure of €139.090.800,00, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, was successfully completed on 31.01.2024.

A total of 41 investment projects were submitted by operators of tourist ports (marinas, shelters and anchorages) for a total amount of €184.588.025,30, far exceeding the budget. The Ministry of Tourism has already started the evaluation of the investment projects and those that are approved will soon be included in the programme.

In a statement, the Minister of Tourism Mrs Olga Kefalogianni stressed that an important step is being implemented for the upgrading of marine tourism in order to fully exploit its potential.

The Ministry’s goal, Mrs.Kefalogianni stressed, is to improve the quality of marine tourism services and to meet the increased demand for yachting tourism in Greece, aiming to increase competitiveness, promoting our country to even higher positions internationally.

The protection of marine and coastal areas by ensuring the sustainability and viability of tourism activity is a strategic objective of the Ministry, Mrs Kefalogianni added.
