“Attica Gaia Festival – New Institutions”: the Greek breakfast of Attica is the pleasure itself

Delicious, crunchy doughnuts, fried bread, traditional yoghurt, grapes, cheese and feta cheese and many other delicacies made up the special gastronomic journey with products of Attica, which took place in Alimos, in the framework of the “
Attica Gaia Festival – New Institutions
“, on 21 September 2023.

We, the grtraveller team, were present and enjoyed a special experiential and tasty “presentation” of the innovative program of the hotel, “Greek Breakfast”, with the Athenian Riviera as a backdrop.

We attended cooking demonstrations and presentations in the specially designed Attica Corner. We learned the secrets of traditional Greek coffee in the hovoli. We enjoyed organic herbal infusions from Attica, but also Aegina pistachio, honey, olive oil, figs, traditional lemonade.

We discovered the value of the Greek Mediterranean diet, through the scientific view of the professor of Harokopio University and nutritionist, Mr. George Boskos, as well as the value of Attica’s products, the “top”, as the president of the E.O.T., Mrs Angela Gerekou, described them, which impressed us with their quality, freshness and deliciousness.

As Ms. Gerekou said, “These quality, local products should be the goal of both the State and the business world to be placed at every stage of the visitor’s travel experience.”

Speaking at the event, the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, said: “Greek Breakfast is a foundation on which we will continue to build in order to strengthen our gastronomic identity which is the custodian of the cultural element and tradition of our country.”

The support of the Development Organization “New Metropolitan Attica S.A.” – organizer of the “Gaia Attica Festival – New Institutions”, expressed to “Hellenic Breakfast” the CEO of the Organization, Mr. Joseph Parsalis, emphasizing the contribution of the program in strengthening the local economy and sustainable development. Specifically, he said that “the Greek Breakfast culinary experience, which focuses on authenticity, contributes economically to the local community, strengthens the local economy and local producers, contributes to sustainable development by reducing imports and transport. This is the message we as the Attica Development Organization seek to reinforce through synergy and cooperation with the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels and the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT). To support as much as we can the Greek Breakfast and Attica in particular and to set the basis for future projects through Attica DMMO”.

The “Greek Breakfast” is the inspired program of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels and Restaurants, aiming to connect the country’s gastronomic wealth with the visitor’s experience and to promote the gastronomic heritage of each place through a program designed to distinguish products from each region. Certified by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, the “Greek Breakfast” is an innovation, a structured program, providing an opportunity for the visitor to discover the gastronomic and cultural heritage of the destination.
