Olga Kefalogianni : Presentation of key actions of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for tourism development

The Minister of Tourism Mrs Olga Kefalogianni presented today the main actions of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan that the Ministry of Tourism is implementing for tourism development.

 

 

Speaking to dozens of journalists and television media, Mrs.Kefalogianni stressed that the foundations are being laid and the conditions are being created for Greek tourism to enter a new trajectory, to renew itself, to evolve and to open new paths. Our goal, said Mrs Kefalogianni, is for Greek tourism of tomorrow to remain attractive, competitive and sustainable with respect for the environment, people and local communities.

 

The Minister referred to the projects planned and implemented with resources from the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RDF), totalling approximately 387 million euros and structured along four axes:

  • To promote the sustainability of our destinations.
  • To diversify and improve the competitiveness of the Greek tourism product.
  • Upgrading tourism education and training.
  • And finally, to strengthen the promotion and promotion of the Greek tourism product with a new approach and the use of new tools.

 

Four actions are already underway and will be implemented immediately, concerning the upgrading of ski and mountaineering shelters, the improvement of accessibility to beaches and the upgrading of tourist ports. These actions are already mobilising around €222 million in resources.

Ms Kefalogianni noted that the Ministry is working intensively to achieve maximum absorption of the available funds, while she stressed that it has the plan and the political will to win this great opportunity. With the implementation of all the projects that we have planned and are implementing, the Minister of Tourism concluded, we are aiming for a development that concerns the whole country and the benefits of which will be distributed to society and citizens in a balanced, fair and rewarding way.
